Scintillators

Scintillators are materials that are able to give off a flash of visible light when radioactive radiation reaches them, so they are suitable for detecting radiation. The state of matter of the scintillator can be gas, liquid or solid. In nuclear medicine solid scintillator materials are the most widely used. These can be organic materials or inorganic crystals, the crystals we use can be categorized as inorganic. Usually single crystals are used.
